Introduction

Go Math Grade 7 vs. ArgoPrep – Let’s go!

I recently read an article that claimed that parents would rather talk to their children about “the birds and the bees” than help them with their math homework.

I thought that was a weird comparison, but then I started thinking about all of my friends with middle school-aged children who regularly complain on Facebook about helping with homework.

Could it be true that parents are struggling with helping their child with math homework as much as the child is struggling themselves? If a child is unable to complete work at home, there is a risk of falling behind in class and creating stress and easy-to-avoid anxiety.

Many parents try to help their children with math by hiring a tutor, printing out worksheets, and sitting with them night after night. With every resource that is available, there is an additional commitment (whether financial or time or both!). Finally, there is a risk that even after all of the time and money to help your child that they are still struggling.

Go Math! Grade 7 and ArgoPrep Grade 7 workbooks are the support that parents and children crave.

These workbooks contain standards-aligned practice with explanations and practice crucial to skill development. Using these workbooks to boost your child’s understanding is the surest way to help your child grasp the complex skills they are learning at the 7th-grade level.

Importance of Supporting Math at Home

indicate that the average student should have at least 61.2 minutes of math instruction each day (Larson, 2017). So what happens if your child only has a block of 45 minutes in school each day? Larson argues that a 15-minute deficiency each day could equal a 60-day loss over a 180-day school year.

That 30% loss will become apparent as your student progresses through their academic career.

Still, most notably, you will begin to see the lack of time and their ability to understand the content on a day-to-day basis!

By this point in your child’s education, you should have a pretty decent idea of how they feel about math.

7th grade invites the opportunity for more rigorous courses. However, for students who struggle with math, 7th grade can be a daunting challenge. One of the biggest struggles with math at this age doesn’t have to do with the content. The anxiety and disdain of math far outweigh any concerns with actual ability.

Of course, some struggles can arise with the 7th Grade curriculum as well. Some of these areas

misunderstanding of basic number operations, inability to rationalize answers, and not being able to process through worksheets.

If your child is continually complaining about math, scoring low on assessments, or not completing the work, the very best support you can give is more time at home to review and develop skills with the new concepts they are learning.

As mentioned above, if your child has frustration or anxiety surrounding math, it may because they are missing a key piece to understanding the increasingly complex topics of 7th Grade math. By giving them the at-home enrichment that a workbook provides, you are giving them the key to building their confidence!

What Are You Waiting For?

7th grade marks the moment in a child’s education where math transitions from basic understanding to complex and analytical thought. Children are no longer being asked to complete a simple math problem such as multiplication.

Instead, children will be applying their knowledge from the previous six years and interacting with math in a more complex and high-level way.

These new concepts are paving the way for their high school coursework, and they must understand the concepts well enough to apply them to math classes beyond 7th grade.

This transition can be stressful for children and parents alike! Solutions are no longer easily found, and explanations can be difficult to come by.

Using Go Math! Grade 7 or ArgoPrep Grade 7 supplemental workbooks will provide your child with valuable enrichment that will guarantee a deeper understanding and higher confidence with the skills they are learning in the classroom.
