Order 3 Objects by Length

Overview

We can compare three objects to one another!
We can look at them to see which one is longer and which one is shorter. We can also see which one is in the middle.

Look at the example below:

There is a red line, a yellow line, and a green line. Which one is the longest? Which one is shortest?

We can compare the three lines. The red line is the longest. The green line is the shortest. The yellow line is in the middle, so it is not the longest or the shortest.

Let’s look at another example:

Look carefully and compare the worms.

Which one is the longest?

The blue worm is longer than the purple worm and the orange worm! It is the longest worm.

Let’s take a look at this example.

Which ruler is the longest?

The blue ruler is the longest of the three rulers!

Which ruler is the shortest?

The green ruler is the shortest of the three rulers!

This is super fun! Let’s try another example.
Which car is the SHORTEST in length?

The yellow car is the SHORTEST in length.

Try this one!

Which watch is the LONGEST?

The orange watch is the LONGEST.

For the example below, put the objects in order from shortest to longest.

The red pencil is the shortest.
The blue pencil is in the middle. It is not the longest or the shortest pencil.
The green pencil is the longest.
