## Overview

Being able to tell the time is a very important skill we must learn. We can take a look at a **clock** to see what the time is. A clock has numbers from **1 to 12** and has a **big** hand and a **little** hand.

In the previous lesson, we learned how to tell the time in hours. Today, we will take a look at what clocks look like in “half hours”.

Look at the clock below:

Look at the clock. The **big hand** is on the **six**. This tells us that it is **half past the hour** of _______ or ____: 30.

To read the hour on the clock, look at the small hand. Look to see which two numbers it falls between. On this clock, the small hand falls between 7 and 8. It is past 7:00, but not yet 8:00.

That means this clock is showing the time is seven thirty.

We can also write it like this: **7:30**

Take a look at another clock below.

What is the time?
