# Telling the Time – Whole Hours

## Overview

A **clock** helps us to know what time it is. Clocks use **numbers** and **hands**. A clock has a big hand and a little hand.

**Look at the clock below:**

Look at the clock. The big hand is on the twelve. This tells us that it is _______ o’clock.

To read the hour on the clock, look at the small hand.

The time is **4 o’clock**.

We can also write it like this: **4:00**

An **hour** lasts for **60 minutes**.

There are **60 minutes** in **one hour**.

There are** 24 hours** in **one day**.

It is **nine o’clock**
