We can use the standard algorithm for division to divide multi-digit numbers.
Let’s look at an example.
408 ÷ 12 = ?
We need to determine how many times 12 fits into 408.
Sometimes, numbers don’t fit evenly into other numbers. In this case, we will have a remainder. For example…
408 ÷ 11 = ?
11 does not fit into 1. So we need to express the remainder when we write our answer.
