Overview

Today we are going to learn how to count objects.
Let’s practice counting to 20 using the chart below.

 

Look at the fish. Let’s count them. Put your finger on the blue fish and say, “one”. Put your finger on the pink fish and say, “two”. Put your finger on the purple fish and say, “three”. Put your finger on the green fish and say, “four”. Put your finger on the orange fish and say, “five”. Put your finger on the red fish and say, “six”.
There are six fish.

Look at the fish again.
Let’s learn how to circle four fish. Let’s count out four fish. Put your finger on the blue fish and say, “one”. Put your finger on the pink fish and say, “two”. Put your finger on the purple fish and say, “three”. Put your finger on the green fish and say, “four”. Now put a circle around the four fish.

Look at the picture below. The word ‘show’ and the number two is next to the fish. This means to circle two. Count two fish and circle them. Let’s count out two fish. Put your finger on the blue fish and say, “one”. Put your finger on the pink fish and say, “two”. Now put a circle around the two fish.

Look at the frogs. How many frogs are there on the log?

Remember, put your finger on the first frog and say, “one”. Keep counting up until you reach the last frog.

Circle 7 popsicles. First count to seven. Then circle seven popsicles.

 

Did you count to 7 and circle 7? It doesn’t matter which popsicles you circle as long as you circle 7.
