# Graphing Rational Numbers

## Overview

We use coordinate planes to help us solve certain math problems involving rational

numbers.

For example:

What is the distance between **(7, -2)** and **(5, -2)**?

The** first step** is to graph the points on a coordinate plane.

The **second step** is to count the spaces between the two points.

The distance between the two points is **2 units**.
