Number Bonds Sum 10
Overview
When you add groups of objects together, you can find how many there are in all.
You can add large or small numbers together. You can add two or more groups together.
It is helpful to know the addends that can make up each sum.
For example,
4 + 0 = 4,
2 + 2 =4,
and
3 + 1 = 4.
These are the number bonds for 4.
Let’s focus on number bonds for 10.
Look at the picture above: 10 = 8 + ?
We will work to find the missing addend: 8 + __ = 10
We know that
8 + 2 = 10.
Therefore, the missing addend is 2.
10 is 8 plus 2.
Let’s try a few more problems together!
Look at the picture above: 10 = 6 + ?
We will work to find the missing addend: 6 + __ = 10
We know that
6 + 4 = 10.
Therefore, the missing addend is 4.
10 is 6 plus 4.
Here is another one to try.
Look at the picture above: 10 = 5 + ?
We will work to find the missing addend: 5 + __ = 10
We know that
5 + 5 = 10.
Therefore, the missing addend is 5.
10 is 5 plus 5.
Let’s try one more!
Look at the picture above: 10 = 7 + ?
We will work to find the missing addend: 7 + __ = 10
We know that
7 + 3 = 10.
Therefore, the missing addend is 3.
10 is 7 plus 3.
